Let Your Imagination Run Wild at WonderWorks "Amusement Park for the Mind"

The newest attraction in Myrtle Beach's Broadway at the Beach, WonderWorks, is an "Amusement Park for the Mind". The attraction opened in Spring of 2011. This is the fourth location of WonderWorks, but the first of its kind in the Carolina's. Now Myrtle Beach visitors have the opportunity to experience what has previously been available in only Florida and Tennessee. While you're visiting the area, make sure you stay at Myrtle Beach's Sea Mist Oceanfront Resort; it's only 10 minutes from WonderWorks and is the "Best Buy" on the Grand Strand.
 

The costs of construction of the attraction were an estimated $13 million. This 50,000-square foot, 10-story tall, upside-down structure combines education and entertainment in more than 100 hands-on exhibits that will spark the imagination and stimulate the mind. The wide variety of both mentally and physically invigorating exhibits is sure to put awe in all its visitors. The exhibits will feature highly-sophisticated graphic and audio presentation techniques and are designed to appeal to all age groups.

What should guests expect when they visit WonderWorks? When you enter the building, everything will be upside-down, so in order to participate in the fun, you must be inverted. Step inside the inversion tunnel and be turned right side up to begin your journey. Once you are properly aligned for your adventure, family fun awaits with more than 100 hands-on exhibits. Visitors will enjoy a variety of experiences including being blown away by 74 mile per hour hurricane force winds, maneuvering the controls of a NASA spacecraft, competing in a game of laser tag and lying on a bed of 3,500 nails. Guests can create 3D impressions of their entire bodies by pressing into a wall made of 40,000 plastic pins, pilot a fighter jet and design and ride a 360-degree virtual roller coaster.

WonderWorks management also opened Soar & Explore that features two outdoor adventures, the Zipline Adventure and the Ropes Challenge Course. The Zipline Adventure is the first and only zip line in Myrtle Beach and the only one on the East Coast that is over water. At night dozens of lights illuminate the course. All adrenaline seekers have the ability to soar 50-feet above the 23 acres of Lake Broadway. The Ropes Challenge Course, which is constructed of more than 3,000 ropes and cables, extends 40-feet into the air over Lake Broadway. The course is pirate themed including a plank-walk, pirate figures hanging from ropes, ship wall sides and cannons. It features 33 different challenge obstacles such as swinging steps, a tremor bridge, a tightrope walk and vertical/angle stairs that require balance, agility and focus to conquer.

WonderWorks offers people of all ages unique and exciting packages to fit a variety of group types, sizes and budgets. It can accommodate everything from birthday parties and educational programs to reunions and company retreats. Meal options will be offered, along with private party meeting space for up to 100 guests and an outdoor patio area which will seat 100.
